ELDON 1ST  2014 - 2015

SEASON REVIEW

2014/15 season proved another testing one for Eldon Men's 1 still up there in the giddy heights of Division 1.

After a winning start, the team suffered successive defeats, leaving us languishing near the foot of the table at Xmas.

With Martin Bone out injured for a few months, Will acquitted himself well at no. 4, while run outs were given to the two Marks, Lee and Guy E from the Men's 2, who all fought valiantly. Even Paddy Meredith, captain of yesteryear, made a winning guest cameo, although he then buggered off back home to Singapore, rather than stay and help the cause (selfish !)

The lads snapped out of their malaise near springtime, with fine wins at Northern and Primrose, giving renewed confidence and an exciting photo finish to the final month.

Had other games gone to league form, Eldon should have made the cut, however a dubious result a few days before our final game saw the then bottom team take 19pt from the 2nd. This meant that for our final game, Eldon had to beat relegation rivals, Concordia by a 13 point margin. Despite a good effort, Eldon won, but only by 8pts, leaving us in the dreaded dropzone. Eldon 1 finished 7th with 137 points, meaning we are to be relegated to Division 2 next season.

Player of the Season:
