Eldon Leisure 2 was one of nine teams participating in Division 3 over the winter 2014/2015 season.
As with all of the Eldon teams, following a shuffling around, this was a newly formed team.
The standard of teams in Division 3 was fairly high, but Eldon 2 was more than up to the challenge and overall finished in a very respectable 4th place, with 9 wins out of 16, accumulating 211 (averaging over 13 points per match). In fact, Eldon 2 was unusual, as we successfully beat both the 1st and 2nd placed teams (in one of two fixtures) which indicated the strength and depth of the team.
As team captain the highlight of the season had to be the amazing victory against the juniors from the Northumberland Club who finished top of the table. Eldon 2 were most definitely the underdogs against the Northumberland boys, but the sentiment of my teammates was along the lines of "We're not losing to a bunch of kids!" and it was this determination that most definitely dictated our favourable outcome.
I think all team members had a decent season, with more highs than lows. Apologies that, as a result of my ski accident I landed the team in some trouble, temporarily being a man light.
Mark Manuel had an excellent season, it's just a shame he chose his bucket and spade over his squash racket at a key point in the season.
Particular thanks go to Richard Adamson for voluntarily taking over as team captain, during my time injured.
Also, thank you to all 3rd team players for stepping up when required.
Thank you to everyone who played for the 2nd team and made it such an enjoyable season!
