A FINAL

The A final drew a great crowd and for good reason, as both Rich and Milo had been on great form during the team season and they continued it in this final resulting in a 44-minute thriller that could have gone either way.

Rich won the 1st game 11-6 with Milo showing some nerves but he settled down in the 2nd game and started firing, taking the 2nd game 11-9 to tie up the match 1-1.

Rich took action in the 3rd game and went up 9-2, but Milo dug deep and won 5 points on the bounce to close the gap to 9-7. However, Rich kept calm and finished the 3rd game off to go 2-1 up. The 4th game was do or die for Milo and he played fearlessly at crucial points like 10-10 and 12-12 which paid off, giving him the victory in the 4th game 14-12, 2-2.

The 5th and final game was tense and edgy and went almost point for point all the way to 9-9, Rich used all of his finals experience and edged the final 2 points to defend his title and become Eldon Men's Champion for the 5th time!

A PLATE FINAL

The A plate final saw Alan Coates take on fellow Walker team-mate Henry Darragh in a very tenacious encounter. The markers were expecting a rough time, with both players being known for enjoying an argument or 2 when decisions don't go their way. However, the match was more subdued than usual with very few decisions or issues. 

Alan went 2-0 up and looked in command in the 1st two games despite the close score lines of 12-10 and 11-8 but Henry showed his metal in the 3rd 8-11 and took the match into a 4th. The 4th game was very back and forth and Alan took the match on his 3rd game ball, winning 13 -11 and taking the match 3-1 to be the A plate winner.

B FINAL

Istvan and Seth took centre stage on court 1 for the 1st major final of the day. Seth had been in top form throughout the tournament and reached the final without dropping a game, while Istvan had a more tough route to the final, with a 3-1 and 3-2 in the previous rounds.

Seth continued his fine form in the final and beat his more experienced opponent 3-0 to take the B plate title without dropping a game in the entire tournament!

B PLATE FINAL

The B plate final saw 2 very differing styles, the finesse and accuracy of Kat against the power and strength of Matt Waddington.

In this case, power proved better with Matt winning 3-0, but Kat was a very valiant runner-up and made Matt work for every point, losing by only a few points each game, 11-8, 11-9, 11-7.

C FINAL

Katy and Shef had a very well-balanced and exciting match to decide the C event champion.

Katy took an early lead with her powerful shots and serve proving a problem for Shef. However, Shef changed her tactics, took control of the front of the court and came back into the game. The last few games were close but Katy edged them and took the C event crown 3-2.

C PLATE FINAL

Henry Allen and Kevin Walls contested the C plate final.

Henry took the first game to go 1-0 up but Kevin upped his game in the remaining matches and ran out 3-1 winner in the C plate final.

LADIES FINAL

Kat and Shef were to compete in their second final of the day in the ladies final.

Kat took a big 9-4 lead in the 1st game with some tight shots, Shef did her best to mount a comeback getting the score back to 9-7 but Kat continued her accuracy to win the 1st 11-8.

The 2nd game took a similar path and Kat ran up a 7-3 lead again Shef came back and got within 1 point at 7-6 but Kat proved too much and won the 2nd game 11-8 to go 2-0 up.

The 3rd game was tighter to begin with, going almost point for point to 6-6, but for the 3rd game in a row, Kat was more clinical in the end game and took the 3rd game 11-6 to become the new Ladies Champion! 

DOUBLES FINAL

After the eliminations, where Milo & Guy advanced straight to the finals with a 2-0 win to send Steve & Henry into the play-off.  The 2nd elimination saw Alan & Adam beat Andrew & Pete 2-0, to advance to the play-off.

The play-off saw Alan & Adam take a tight 1st game but Steve & Henry turned up the heat and took the next 2 games to progress to the final.

The final was rapid and entertaining with reaction volleys and back-wall boasts a-plenty. Despite the odd moments of flare and brilliance from Steve & Henry, Milo & Guy were the more consistent pair and won the final 2-0, being crowned Doubles Champions for the 1st time!
